What a TV unit costs in India: ready-made console prices from IKEA, Urban Ladder and Wooden Street, carpenter rates per sq ft, and a 10 ft TV wall priced line by line with GST.
A TV unit in India costs about ₹1,790 to ₹50,000 as a ready-made console from IKEA India, Urban Ladder or Wooden Street (₹91,200 for IKEA's largest BESTÅ wall combination), about ₹8,000 to ₹66,000 for a carpenter-made 8 ft floating console, and about ₹27,000 to ₹2.7 lakh for a full 10 ft TV wall with panelling, lighting and wiring, GST included. Four things move the price most: how much front area you build, the board and finish, how much wall you panel behind the screen, and the lighting.
Below, each option is priced line by line in budget, mid and premium tiers, with how carpenters quote, what GST applies and what quotes leave out.
About the numbers below: ready-made prices are the listed prices on IKEA India, Urban Ladder and Wooden Street, read on 29 Oct 2026; sale prices change often. Carpentry, panel and lighting rates are market ranges published by DesignCafe (10 Feb 2026), Spacewood, NoBroker (28 Jul 2026) and Studio Matrx (Oct 2026), plus seller listings on IndiaMART and Urban Company's rate pages, all read on 29 Oct 2026. Most of these sources do not say whether GST is included. The worked examples are our arithmetic on those rates, with quantities we chose; they are illustrations, not quotes. The GST rates are from the GST Council.
This is the cost companion to our planned guides on TV unit design for the living room and on TV units for bedrooms and small halls, which cover types, heights and wiring. Our planned wall panel guide (PVC, fluted, wood and WPC) has the full panel rates used here.
These are listed prices on 29 Oct 2026. Where a store showed a sale price, we give that and note the MRP. IKEA India marks its prices "incl. of all taxes" on its product pages; Urban Ladder's and Wooden Street's listing pages did not say.
| Store | Budget | Mid | Premium |
|---|---|---|---|
| IKEA India | BAGGEBO, 90 cm metal, ₹1,790; LACK, 120 cm, ₹4,990; LACK, 160 cm, ₹6,990 | BRIMNES, 180 cm with drawers, ₹11,990; BESTÅ BURS, 180 cm, ₹26,990 | BESTÅ with doors, 240 cm, ₹32,000 (regular ₹34,000); BESTÅ wall combination with glass doors, 300 x 231 cm, ₹91,200 |
| Urban Ladder | Liam, engineered wood, ₹3,999 (MRP ₹8,199); Bayern, ₹7,999 | Celestin XL, ₹16,999; Linnea, solid wood, ₹20,999 | Dorian, ceramic top, ₹43,999; Tavo, solid wood, ₹49,999 |
| Wooden Street | Radiant, engineered wood, ₹3,999 (MRP ₹11,999) | Hailey, wall-mounted, ₹12,999; Melvina, sheesham, ₹24,999 | Eka, mango wood, ₹35,999; Hamona, mango wood, ₹36,999 |
Pepperfry's site refused our requests on 29 Oct 2026, so we have no Pepperfry prices to report. Two things to budget on top: delivery, and assembly. IKEA India's assembly service costs ₹3,500 for products worth up to ₹50,000. IKEA also says the 180 cm BESTÅ bench we checked must not be hung on the wall, so a "floating" look from a ready-made piece needs a unit sold as wall-mountable.
A built TV unit is quoted in one of four ways, and comparing two quotes only works once both use the same one.
Rates by material. DesignCafe's TV unit material guide (10 Feb 2026) gives ₹600 to ₹1,000 per sq ft for engineered wood (MDF or particle board), ₹1,200 to ₹2,000 for plywood with laminate, ₹2,500 to ₹5,000 for solid wood, ₹2,000 to ₹3,000 for glass with metal and ₹3,000 to ₹6,000 for marble or stone. It does not say whether GST or fitting is included. We apply these rates to front area in the examples below, which is our assumption.
What sellers ask. On IndiaMART's designer TV unit listings (updated 29 Oct 2026), 13 sellers quoting by the square foot asked ₹250 to ₹2,000, leaving out one listing at ₹99.99, with the middle of the list around ₹1,000. Those are asking prices, not verified quotes, and few say what is included.
Take an 8 ft console with a 15-inch-high front: 10 sq ft. With 12% hardware and 18% GST (if a firm bills it), that is about ₹7,900 to ₹13,200 in engineered wood with laminate, ₹15,900 to ₹26,400 in plywood with laminate and ₹33,000 to ₹66,100 in solid wood (our arithmetic on DesignCafe's rates).
NoBroker's floating TV unit guide (28 Jul 2026) prices whole jobs higher: ₹8,000 to ₹20,000 for a minimal floating shelf and ₹25,000 to ₹60,000 for a floating unit with closed storage. Its figures are for complete designed units of unstated size, while ours count only the carpentry and hardware on 10 sq ft, which explains much of the gap.
Our worked example is a 10 x 9 ft wall: an 8 ft floating console, a 2 ft wide side display unit 7 ft tall, and 60 sq ft of panel behind the TV. Quantities are ours; every rate is published.
| Line | Budget | Mid | Premium |
|---|---|---|---|
| Console and side unit, 24 sq ft of front | ₹14,400 to ₹24,000 (engineered wood) | ₹28,800 to ₹48,000 (plywood, laminate) | ₹60,000 to ₹1.2 lakh (solid wood) |
| Hardware at 12% | ₹1,700 to ₹2,900 | ₹3,500 to ₹5,800 | ₹7,200 to ₹14,400 |
| Back panel, 60 sq ft | ₹3,000 to ₹9,000 (PVC) | ₹9,000 to ₹24,000 (laminated MDF) | ₹15,000 to ₹72,000 (fluted veneer or wood) |
| Panel fitting | ₹1,200 to ₹3,000 | ₹1,200 to ₹9,000 | ₹1,200 to ₹9,000 |
| LED back-light | none | ₹3,000 to ₹8,000 | ₹3,000 to ₹8,000 |
| Wiring in conduit, labour | about ₹900 | about ₹900 | about ₹900 |
| Wall mount and fixing | ₹2,000 to ₹5,000 | ₹2,000 to ₹5,000 | ₹2,000 to ₹5,000 |
| Before GST | ₹23,200 to ₹44,800 | ₹48,400 to ₹1.01 lakh | ₹89,300 to ₹2.29 lakh |
| With 18% GST | ₹27,400 to ₹52,800 | ₹57,100 to ₹1.19 lakh | ₹1.05 to ₹2.71 lakh |
NoBroker's whole-job ranges sit in the same bands: ₹45,000 to ₹1.4 lakh for a TV wall with floating shelves, ₹55,000 to ₹1.5 lakh for a fluted panel unit, ₹80,000 to ₹1.8 lakh for a full-wall storage unit and ₹80,000 to ₹2 lakh for a marble panel unit.
DesignCafe's wall panelling cost guide (10 Feb 2026) gives ₹50 to ₹350 per sq ft for PVC with ₹20 to ₹50 for installation, ₹150 to ₹400 for MDF, ₹200 to ₹600 for WPC and ₹500 to ₹2,500 for wooden panels, and says labour typically adds ₹20 to ₹150 per sq ft. Spacewood gives ₹50 to ₹150 for PVC, ₹150 to ₹400 for laminate on MDF and ₹250 to ₹1,200 for fluted wood, depending on the veneer. These are the figures our planned wall panel guide uses too. On a TV wall, keep one panel near the screen removable so the conduit can be reached later.
The strip itself is cheap: Fybros lists a 5 m roll of 12 W strip at an MRP of ₹880 (Fybros, Feb 2026). The driver, the aluminium profile that hides the dots and the electrician's time are what add up; we found no published price for drivers or profiles. NoBroker puts LED lighting at ₹3,000 to ₹8,000 per installation, which is the figure we use.
Urban Company's Bangalore electrician page lists internal wiring at ₹269 per 5 m and a TV socket at ₹89, so 15 m of wiring and one socket is about ₹900 in labour. The page does not say materials are included, so conduit, wire and sockets are extra. A TV installation starts at ₹399 on its TV service page, varying with screen size.
Brackets themselves are inexpensive. IndiaMART's TV bracket listings (updated 29 Oct 2026) show a flat mount for 26 to 63 inch TVs at ₹150 and swivel mounts from ₹700 to ₹2,000. NoBroker allows ₹2,000 to ₹5,000 for wall drilling and bracket installation, which we use for the worked example.
These are our suggestions, using the rates above:

DesignCafe gives ₹600 to ₹1,000 per sq ft of unit for engineered wood, ₹1,200 to ₹2,000 for plywood with laminate and ₹2,500 to ₹5,000 for solid wood. Ask whether the rate is per sq ft of front, and whether hardware, fitting and GST are included.
Ready-made consoles listed on 29 Oct 2026 ranged from ₹1,790 (IKEA BAGGEBO) to ₹49,999 (Urban Ladder Tavo), with IKEA's 300 cm BESTÅ wall combination at ₹91,200. Built units cost more: about ₹8,000 to ₹66,000 for an 8 ft console and ₹27,000 to ₹2.7 lakh for a full 10 ft wall, in our worked examples.
PVC is usually the panel behind the TV, not the console. DesignCafe gives ₹50 to ₹350 per sq ft plus ₹20 to ₹50 for installation, so 60 sq ft is about ₹4,200 to ₹24,000 fitted. The console is still priced as carpentry.
Not usually at the low end: a ₹4,990 IKEA LACK costs less than any built console in our examples. Carpenter work wins when you need an odd length, a floating unit or storage that fills the wall.
Often not. A firm that supplies and fits charges 18% as a works contract, so ask for GST as a separate line. Ready-made prices at IKEA India already include taxes.
