Project description
A sensitive and thoughful renovation for a three-generation home where the aim was to create clarity and comfort without losing the memories everyone grew up with. The entrance was the first reset point, refreshed with new materials, colours and lighting to create a calmer arrival.
In the formal living area, part of the room was kept exactly as the elders remember it, while the rest was redesigned to bring order to what had become a very mixed-use space. Giving every activity its own corner made the room far more welcoming for guests and far easier for the family to use.
The powder washroom and the main corridor- the transition spine between the dining/kitchen side and the living zones were refined to feel cleaner, brighter and more cohesive.
The kitchen was rebuilt for better workflow and everyday ease, turning a once-cramped space into something practical, intuitive and comfortable for daily cooking.
Upstairs, the informal living area received the biggest glow-up: a relaxed, modern space with a soft English influence inspired by the youngest family member’s travels.
The staircase leading up was made into a feature using repurposed wooden pieces the family already had, adding character without waste. Most of the furniture was custom made, and leftover stone and metal were used to create small accent pieces like the cutest side tables that tie the whole house together.
