The Brickform House

The Brickform House
This project reflects a contemporary tropical modern architecture style with a strong emphasis on climate-responsive design, sustainable materiality, and crafted brick façade work. Key elements like the extended roof slab, open terraces, pergola shading, and the perforated brick jaali place it within the vocabulary of Indian tropical modernism, blending modern geometry with regional craft techniques.

Project description

This residential project explores the creation of a climate-responsive home rooted in contemporary tropical modernism. Designed as a calm yet expressive dwelling, it balances clean architectural lines with the warmth of handcrafted materials. The building is envisioned as a breathable structure that promotes comfort, sustainability, and a deep connection to nature. The design strategy prioritizes passive cooling through shaded terraces, large glazed openings, and a sweeping roof canopy that shields the interior from harsh sunlight. The curved brick façade becomes the defining architectural gesture, merging aesthetics with performance, allowing natural airflow, diffused daylight, and visual privacy. A mix of sustainable materials, including terracotta brick jaalis, energy-efficient glazing, and light-toned external surfaces, contributes to reducing heat gain and improving indoor comfort. Landscape pockets, balcony greens, and open-to-sky terraces further enrich the living environment, creating a home that feels intimate, connected, and naturally lit throughout the day. This project embodies our studio’s commitment to designing modern homes that are environmentally conscious, structurally expressive, and rooted in contextual design thinking.
Curved terracotta jaali brickwork creates ventilation, soft daylight, tactile texture, and a warm sculpted identity.
