A month-by-month 2027 marketing calendar for a small Indian interior design studio: portfolio, Google, referrals, partners, the Diwali window and an enquiry log by source.
A 2027 marketing plan for a small Indian interior design studio works best as one main job a month, in the order the jobs depend on each other. Start with your portfolio and profile in January, set up Google and WhatsApp in February, build referrals and partnerships in spring, plan back from Diwali on 29 October in the monsoon months, and finish with a December review of where your enquiries actually came from. Keep an enquiry log from the first week, because without it the review is guesswork.
About the plan below: the month order, the weekly hours and the targets are MOA's guidance for a one to three person studio. They are not measured data, and your city, budget band and past work will change them. Festival dates come from the central government's 2027 holiday list, and platform features from each platform's own help pages, read on 18 Oct 2026.
This is the calendar, not the channel guide. For what each channel asks of your week, read how interior designers get clients in India. For registration, GST and pricing, see our first-year plan for starting an interior design business. For why clients look you up online even after a recommendation, see the shift to digital portfolios.
A plan without limits turns into three busy weeks and then nothing. Write these down first:
The first quarter builds what every later month relies on: a portfolio worth sending, a way to be found, and a log. The second turns past clients and partners into a system. The third prepares for the festive season, and the fourth delivers it and reviews the year.
Every other channel sends people to your work, so fix the work first. Pick your three to five best finished projects. For each, gather good photos, a simple plan and a short write-up: the brief, the constraint, what you changed and the main materials. State your role honestly if the job was done at a previous firm, and label renders as renders. Get the client's written agreement before publishing their home, and leave out the address.
Then put them behind one link. A free MOA profile gives you a professional profile and portfolio, up to five project uploads and commission-free client inquiries. Our guide to building a strong MOA profile covers what to put on it.
Done when: one link shows your best work, and your enquiry log (below) has its first row.
Set up and verify your Google Business Profile using our setup checklist. Then build the habit: on the first working day of each month, open the profile's performance report. Google defines calls as clicks on the call button, website clicks as clicks on the website link, and messages as distinct conversations, and the search terms people used update at the start of each month (Google Business Profile Help). Note those numbers in your log's monthly summary.
If you run enquiries on the WhatsApp Business app, set up labels now. WhatsApp's help page says you can create up to 20 labels and add them to a whole chat, though labels are being replaced by lists, rolling out gradually (WhatsApp Help Center). We suggest one label per source: "Referral", "Google", "Instagram", "Partner", "MOA", "Society". Tag every new chat the day it arrives.
If you have your own website, tag the links you control. Google Analytics reads three campaign parameters, utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign, and Google says to always use all three together (Google Analytics Help). Tagged visits then show by source in the Traffic acquisition report.
Choose one visual channel for the year; for many studios that means Instagram. Switch to a professional account: Instagram's professional dashboard shows a summary of your last 30 days of reach and engagement (Instagram Help Center). Set a weekly rhythm you can keep through a busy site month, and point the profile link at your portfolio.
End March with the first quarterly review: an hour to count enquiries by source, see which reached a meeting, and write down one change for April.
Build a list of every past client with the handover date and a reason to get back in touch: a check after the first monsoon, a snag visit, a festival message. Put together a handover pack you can send on WhatsApp: the link to their finished project page, your Google review link, and one line asking whether they know anyone getting a home done. If a referral fee changes hands with anyone, tell the client.
List ten people who meet your clients before you do: architects who do not take on interiors, civil contractors, modular kitchen and furniture showrooms, and lighting or tile dealers. Meet two a week. Bring the January link so they can forward it. Agree in writing how referrals work in each direction. Architects work under their own professional conduct rules, so let each partner say what they can and cannot accept.
Get your strongest finished project photographed by someone who shoots interiors, then publish it fully: on your MOA profile (our guide to publishing projects on MOA walks through it), and as a submission to a design publication. Read each publication's rules. ArchDaily, for example, asks for at least 15 photos at least 2,880 px wide, by architectural photographers, with full credits and confirmation that you hold the rights, and it says not every submission is published (ArchDaily Guide to Publication).
The central government's 2027 holiday list puts Dussehra on Saturday 9 October and Diwali on Friday 29 October, for its offices in Delhi (DoPT holiday list for 2027, circulated by India Post). Where Onam, Durga Puja or Pongal matter more to your clients, use those dates.
Clients will ask to be "done before Diwali". Work back from 29 October using your own typical timelines for a kitchen, a full 2BHK and a bungalow, and note the last sensible sign-up date for each. Share it with every enquiry from July: a no in July beats a missed promise in October.
If a tower near you is handing over flats, be useful to its residents within the society's rules. August is also the month to decide whether to spend money. On MOA, Pro costs ₹99 + GST for the first month, then ₹399 + GST a month, and you can cancel anytime (MOA Pro). Three features suit this plan:
Pro also removes the five-project limit. It does not promise enquiries. If your log shows that people who check your portfolio go on to sign, test it for a few months; if your work comes almost entirely from referrals, the free profile may be enough.
Put the same best project first on your MOA profile, Google photos and Instagram highlights. Then run the third quarterly review.
Launch nothing new. Hand over well: a home finished before Diwali is the one the relatives see. Photograph finished rooms before the furniture and gifts pile up, with the client's written agreement. Send the handover pack, and ask for a review and a referral while the home looks its best.
After Diwali, turn the year's best two or three projects into case studies on your profile, and enter the strongest for a publication or award.
Add up the year by source: enquiries, meetings, signed projects, fee value and the hours each channel took. Keep what produced signed work for the time it cost, shrink the weakest channel, and write your 2028 calendar.
Platform reports cannot tell you that a client heard your name from a contractor, checked your Instagram, then called from your Google profile. Only asking can. So ask every enquiry two questions: "How did you first hear of us?" and "Where else did you look before calling?" Log both.
Each month, count four things per source: enquiries, meetings, signed work and hours spent. A channel with many enquiries and no meetings is mostly producing price checks: keep a short reply ready, and link our guide to how interior designers charge.
A portfolio behind one link, a local listing such as a Google Business Profile, one visual channel, a referral routine, a few partners, and an enquiry log reviewed monthly and quarterly, each placed on a calendar.
Diwali falls on 29 October 2027 in the central government's holiday list. Work back from it using your own project timelines, and start telling enquiries your last sign-up dates from July.
Ask every enquiry how they first heard of you and where else they looked, and log it with the outcome. Add WhatsApp labels by source and your Google profile's monthly report.
It depends on where your work comes from. Pro adds regional featuring, city promotion, in-depth analytics and unlimited projects for ₹399 + GST a month after a ₹99 + GST first month. It does not guarantee enquiries. Start with the free profile, and test Pro when your log suggests your portfolio helps clients decide.
Start January early: put your best projects on MOA, free, and see how other studios present their work in the interior designers directory.
