Wallpaper prices per roll and per sq ft from Asian Paints, Marshalls, Excel and Amazon, how many rolls a 10 x 9 ft wall needs, fitting costs and damp walls.
Wallpaper for walls in India costs about ₹13 to ₹15 per sq ft for peel-and-stick rolls, ₹23 to ₹140 per sq ft for most branded rolls from Asian Paints, Marshalls and Excel, and about ₹590 per sq ft for the costliest designer roll we found, going by the roll prices those sellers listed on 21 October 2026. Fitting adds roughly ₹9 to ₹11 per sq ft at the per-roll rates makers quote, and a plain 10 x 9 ft wall usually takes two standard rolls.
About the numbers below: every price is a roll price we read on the maker's or retailer's own page on 21 October 2026: Asian Paints (prices include taxes), Marshalls ("GST as applicable"), Excel (tax not stated) and three Amazon.in listings (prices include taxes, read during a sale). "Per sq ft" is our arithmetic: the price divided by the roll area the page lists. These are single designs, not averages, and online prices change often. Fitting rates are the per-roll figures Asian Paints and Marshalls publish; they cover hanging only. Anything marked "our guidance" is MOA's view, not a maker's.

Wallpaper is sold by the roll, so the per sq ft price depends on the roll's size as much as its price tag. Asian Paints' wallpaper FAQ says plainly that the prices on its site are "per roll". Here is what a sample of designs cost on 21 October 2026.
| Seller and design | Roll size | Price per roll | Per sq ft (our arithmetic) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Amazon listing, peel-and-stick vinyl | 45 x 304 cm, 15 sq ft | ₹199 | ₹13 |
| Asian Paints Nilaya Once, Pure White | 1 x 10 m | ₹2,499 (MRP ₹3,000) | ₹23 |
| Asian Paints Ador Serenade | 0.53 x 10 m | ₹2,499 (MRP ₹2,999) | ₹44 |
| Marshalls Beyond | 1.06 x 5 m | ₹3,305 + GST as applicable | ₹58 |
| Asian Paints Sandtales, non-woven | 0.52 x 10.05 m | ₹3,899 (MRP ₹4,650) | ₹69 |
| Excel Snowy | 0.53 x 10 m, 57 sq ft | ₹5,531 (MRP ₹7,375) | ₹97 |
| Asian Paints Magnificent South, non-woven | 0.52 x 10.05 m | ₹6,799 (MRP ₹8,000) | ₹121 |
| Marshalls Gardenia | 1.04 x 5 m | ₹7,829 + GST as applicable | ₹140 |
| Asian Paints Sabyasachi Chapter IV, non-woven | 1 x 10.05 m | ₹63,699 (MRP ₹75,000) | ₹589 |
Across the whole Asian Paints wallpaper listing, 329 designs ran from an MRP of ₹2,999 to ₹75,000 a roll, and the middle design sat at ₹4,650. Excel's listing prices each design per sq ft instead: the designs on the pages we sampled were listed at ₹44 to ₹230 per sq ft, before any discount. Marshalls sells its rolls at ₹3,305 to ₹7,829 on the pages we opened, and murals by the square metre (₹1,936 a sq m for its Zaha mural, about ₹180 per sq ft). We could not find a published price on D'Decor's wallpaper pages, and IKEA India's online store showed no wallpaper when we searched.
These maker prices sit inside the broad ranges that blogs publish. Urban Company (December 2024) gives ₹40 to ₹150 per sq ft for vinyl and ₹200 to ₹600 for custom designs, and Asian Paints' cost blog gives ₹50 to ₹600 or more. For a whole-room budget, see Interior Design Cost in India, room by room.
There is no single Indian roll size. The Asian Paints non-woven rolls we checked are 0.52 x 10.05 m; Excel and some Asian Paints ranges are 0.53 x 10 m, which Excel lists as 57 sq ft; Marshalls sells 1.04 to 1.06 m wide rolls only 5 m long; and some Asian Paints designs come 1 m wide.
Asian Paints' wallpaper FAQ says a roll covers "approximately 57 sq feet"; its newer wallcoverings page says about 52 sq ft, allowing for repeat and wastage. The first is the paper on the roll, the second closer to what reaches the wall.
Asian Paints' FAQ gives the basic method: wall area, minus doors and windows, divided by the roll's coverage, plus extra for the pattern repeat and trimming. It also says each strip should be the wall height plus four inches, two at the top and two at the bottom, and that you need more paper the longer the repeat, which it says runs from about 1 inch to 25 inches. Swedish maker Boråstapeter's calculator works the same way: the number of strips is the wall width divided by the roll width, and the pattern size, printed on the product page, is built into every strip.
The quick area method agrees here: 90 sq ft ÷ 57 = 1.6, so 2 rolls. It stops agreeing on short wide rolls. A 1.06 x 5 m Marshalls roll has the same 57 sq ft, but on a 9 ft wall it yields only one drop, so the same wall needs 3 rolls. Marshalls also asks buyers to keep the lot number the same across rolls of one design, so order them together.
On the same 10 x 9 ft wall, using the listed prices:
| Choice | Rolls | Material | Fitting at the maker's rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Peel-and-stick, 45 x 304 cm (Amazon) | 7 | ₹1,393 | You hang it yourself |
| Asian Paints Ador Serenade | 2 | ₹4,998 | About ₹1,000 |
| Marshalls Beyond, 1.06 x 5 m | 3 | ₹9,915 + GST | ₹1,800 + GST |
| Excel Snowy | 2 | ₹11,062 | Not published |
| Asian Paints Magnificent South | 2 | ₹13,598 | About ₹1,000 |

In a bedroom, the bed wall is the natural place for wallpaper. Our guidance:

"Waterproof" on a listing means the face can take a wipe. It does not mean the wallpaper can go on a wet wall. The care note on Asian Paints' non-woven rolls says "Do not use wallcovering in areas with dampness", and the Excel Snowy page says it is "Not suitable for damp, dirty & rough surfaces". An older Asian Paints guide (2019) says to avoid shower areas and badly ventilated bathrooms.
On a damp wall the bond fails first. Asian Paints lists moisture and leakage among the causes of peeling and says such peeling can only be fixed once the cause is solved, and Urban Company warns that humidity brings mould and mildew. So test first, and through one monsoon if the wall is new or recently repaired (our guidance). If you are asking about "wallpaper for a wall with seepage", the answer is to fix the seepage first; our guide to waterproofing a house by climate covers walls, roofs and bathrooms.
Per sq ft quotes are higher: Urban Company gives ₹30 to ₹100 per sq ft for installation. Ask what the rate includes: putty, primer, adhesive, moving furniture and removing old paper.
Peel-and-stick is the renter's option: no paste, no primer, and the listings call it removable. At about ₹13 to ₹15 per sq ft (the ELTON roll was ₹215 for 15 sq ft), a 10 x 9 ft wall costs under ₹1,500. Our guidance: stick a test piece in a corner for a week first, because adhesive can lift weak or fresh paint when it comes off, and expect the joins to show more than on pasted wallpaper. Asian Paints' own peel-and-stick decals can be repositioned while you apply them.
From listed roll prices on 21 October 2026: ₹13 to ₹15 for peel-and-stick, ₹23 to ₹140 for most branded rolls, ₹589 for a designer roll. Fitting is about ₹500 to ₹600 a roll, plus GST at Marshalls.
For a 10 x 9 ft wall, 2 standard 0.53 x 10 m rolls, or 3 if the rolls are 5 m long.
No. "Waterproof" refers to the surface. Fix the seepage, let the wall dry, then prime.
Makers claim 5 to 15 years with care. Damp walls cut that short.
Our guidance: a light background with a small pattern or vertical stripes on one wall, in non-woven for an owned home or peel-and-stick for a rental.
