The 2027 colour releases lean green and warm. Here is what to use in the living room, bedroom, kids' room, kitchen, pooja, home office and exterior, with codes, finishes and what to avoid.
The 2027 wall colour story is green and warm, dusky neutrals. Benjamin Moore picked a mid-tone green, Sherwin-Williams a pale yellow-green, and Dulux a soft grey-green. In MOA members' 2025 and 2026 projects, though, most walls are warm ivory and beige, and colour shows up on cabinets, shelving and single feature walls. Below: each room of an Indian home, with codes, finishes and what to avoid.
About the colours below: every colour named with a code comes from the brand's own page, read on 18 October 2026. Light reflectance values (LRV, 0 to 100) are the brands' figures, rounded. Room pairings, the "avoid" notes and anything marked "our guidance" are MOA's view, not the brands'. Asian Paints had not announced a 2027 colour when we checked; this line will be updated when it does.
Our view: the common thread is not "paint everything green" but lighter, warmer walls with one confident colour placed where it does a job. The card below uses only colours with a published name and code.
Light. LRV tells you how much light a colour reflects. White Down OC-131 is 77 and Webster Green HC-130 is 20 on Benjamin Moore's colour pages. Our guidance: north light is even and cool, so it greys out pale greens. Strong west light warms everything in the evening. Paint an A3-size sample and look at it at 9 am and 6 pm.
Damp and humidity. The technical data sheet for Asian Paints Royale Luxury Emulsion says not to apply it when humidity exceeds 85%. It also says seepage and dampness need waterproofing before you paint. Fix the cause first: see waterproofing by climate.
How the room is used. Indian homes are hard on walls: smoke, soot, hair oil, children's hands. The same data sheet gives a matt finish (sheen level 03 at 60°) and 10,000 scrub cycles for washability. Our guidance: ask for the scrub figure on any emulsion you are quoted.
The 2027 direction: Benjamin Moore suggests its "dramatic mid-tone hues" for living areas, and its trend page shows Antique Copper 1169 on walls in an eggshell finish. MOA members are going quieter. Artline Architects' Parel home in Mumbai (2026) uses beige patterned wallpaper, cream upholstery and a wooden TV unit.
India: living rooms usually open to a balcony, so the window wall is backlit and reads darker than the swatch (our guidance).
Finish: washable matt or a low sheen.
Avoid (our guidance): putting the mid-tone on the window wall, or on all four walls in a compact flat.
How to use it at home: keep three walls light (White Down OC-131) and put the copper or green on the one wall the light falls on, often the TV or sofa wall.
The 2027 direction: Benjamin Moore says its "relaxing pastels" suit quiet spaces. It shows Wild Aster 1240 on the walls in matte, with the same colour on the trim and ceiling. On MOA, AAY Designs' master bedroom at Springfeild 54, Vijayawada (2026, design render) is warm ivory with blush pink accents. Its Shanti Vanam home in Hyderabad (2026) paints a pale blue band along the beam and ceiling edge above warm white walls.
India: bedrooms are lit by warm lamps at night, which push pink-leaning pastels towards peach (our guidance).
Finish: matt, since the TDS above notes that matt "minimizes glare". Use a washable grade behind the headboard.
Avoid (our guidance): a dark colour carried over walls and a low false ceiling in a small room.
How to use it at home: a cooler pastel such as Nelson Blue CW-635 for a hot west-facing room, a warmer one such as Wild Aster facing north. A ceiling band in the second colour is a cheap trial.
The 2027 direction: Sherwin-Williams' Celery page calls it "great for spaces needing a fresh, youthful vibe". It lists the colour for interior use only, at LRV 71.
India: the room is also the study, and walls get drawn on.
Finish: washable matt with a published scrub rating.
Avoid (our view): strong primaries or a cartoon mural on every wall, which date in two or three years as the child grows.
How to use it at home: Celery on the upper walls and a darker band of Woven Wicker SW 9104 (LRV 34) up to about 1 m, where scuffs land. For Vastu preferences in this room, see Vastu colours room by room.
The 2027 direction: colour is moving onto cabinets. Ashley Banbury, colour marketing manager at Sherwin-Williams, told Hunker she loves Celery "when it's on kitchen cabinets". Benjamin Moore's trend page shows White Down walls with Nelson Blue CW-635 on the island and cabinets in semi-gloss. On MOA, studio riev's Project Reframe in Hyderabad (2025, design render) has sage cabinets under white walls. Shilpkaar Interiors' Madhusudan Row House in Surat (2026) uses deep blue-green base units.
India: tadka smoke and turmeric land on the walls.
Finish: a washable emulsion on the walls and tiles or stone behind the hob.
Avoid (our guidance): pale matt paint within splash range of the stove.
How to use it at home: White Flour SW 7102 (LRV 87) walls; take the cabinet colour code to your laminate or PU supplier and approve a physical sample, as matches are approximate.
The 2027 direction: no paint brand we checked publishes a pooja-specific forecast, so this is our guidance, built on Benjamin Moore's "chic ochres". On MOA, Shilpkaar Interiors' 4BHK flat in Surat (2026) puts a white, softly backlit arched mandir niche into a taupe living and dining space.
India: diya soot, agarbatti smoke, kumkum and haldi.
Finish: washable.
Avoid (our guidance): dark colours inside an unlit cupboard mandir, and metallic gold paint over the whole niche.
How to use it at home: walls in White Down OC-131 with Shakespeare Tan 228 (LRV 47) on the niche back. Keep stone or tile directly behind the lamp. More ideas are in pooja room design for apartments.
The 2027 direction: Dulux's 2027 room ideas say its light-toned palettes suit multifunctional rooms; its home office example pairs Soulful Sage with Arctic Pebble and Ashen White. Benjamin Moore calls Webster Green "an ideal choice for highlighting built-ins". On MOA, Rippotai Architecture's ADR Law Office in South Delhi (2025, design render) puts deep teal on the joinery and keeps the walls grey and oak.
India: the office is often a bedroom corner, and the wall behind you shows on video calls.
Finish: matt walls. Benjamin Moore's own photos put semi-gloss on built-ins.
Avoid (our guidance): a glossy wall facing the window, which throws glare onto your screen.
How to use it at home: White Flour walls with Webster Green on the shelving behind the desk.
The 2027 direction: Benjamin Moore says Webster Green on "doors and exteriors" sets the welcome. Its exterior photo shows White Down on the walls in flat, Nelson Blue on the porch ceiling and Durango 2137-30 on the shutters in soft gloss. On MOA, ARC Studio's Contemporary Konkan house in Dapoli (2025, design render) is white and charcoal with stone and wood.
India: sun, monsoon algae and dust. Asian Paints' Ultima Protek Duralife page lists dirt pick-up resistance and anti-algal protection. Compare those on any exterior quote.
Finish: exterior emulsion on walls and soft gloss on doors and grilles.
Avoid (our guidance): a dark, low-LRV colour on a large south or west wall. Durango is LRV 12, and dark walls absorb more sun and show dust streaks.
How to use it at home: walls in White Down, with Durango on grilles and Webster Green on the front door only. Paint after the monsoon.
Colour-drenching a small room dark, and a feature wall in a shade picked from a screen and never tested in daylight. Light walls with colour on joinery, doors and one wall will outlast 2028's colours. For how the bigger 2026 shifts set this up, see Indian home design trends of 2026.
Green, from soft sage to mid-tone, plus warm dusky neutrals: Webster Green HC-130 (Benjamin Moore), Celery SW 6421 (Sherwin-Williams) and Soulful Sage (Dulux). Asian Paints had not named a 2027 colour by 18 October 2026.
A soft pastel in matt, per Benjamin Moore's advice on quiet spaces: Wild Aster 1240 (warm) or Nelson Blue CW-635 (cooler, for west-facing rooms; our guidance).
Matt for most walls, but a washable grade. Check the scrub rating on the data sheet. Keep satin or semi-gloss for doors, grilles and joinery.
We found no India site for either brand. Take the code and a chip to your dealer for the closest Indian fan-deck match, then test a large patch.
