Jaipur's furniture markets area by area: the walled city bazaars, Kalwar Road, Patrakar Colony and other colonies, brand stores, listed prices, and how to check wood before you pay.
Jaipur has no single furniture market. Carved and traditional pieces are sold in the walled city's bazaars, where the Nagar Nigam lists Johari Bazaar and Chandpole Bazaar for furniture and Kishanpole Bazaar for wood carving. Everyday ready-made and made-to-order furniture is spread along roads in the newer colonies, such as Kalwar Road, Patrakar Colony, Mansarovar and Vaishali Nagar, with brand stores in between.
This guide goes area by area, then covers what Jaipur sellers list as prices, ready-made versus made-to-order, and how to check wood and finish before you pay.
About the places and numbers below: areas are listed by location, starting from the walled city, not ranked. Market descriptions come from Nagar Nigam Jaipur and Rajasthan Tourism. Brand stores come from each brand's own store page. Prices are sellers' own listed prices on IndiaMART's Jaipur pages, read on 31 October 2026. They are listed prices, not quotes, and most do not say whether GST, delivery or fitting are included. No business paid to appear here, and MOA takes no commission on any sale.

The Jaipur Municipal Corporation's list of main markets names furniture among the things to visit Johari Bazaar and Chandpole Bazaar for. It calls Chandpole "the hub of unique handicrafts and marble crafts", and gives Chandpole metro station as the nearest stop. It describes Kishanpole Bazaar as street shopping that runs from wood carvings to Rajasthani dyed fabrics, about 2 km from the same station. A 2024 Rajasthan Patrika feature on the city's craft markets also names furniture among the things Jaipur's bazaars are known for.
Rajasthan Tourism's Jaipur page notes that the markets are generally closed on Sundays, so plan a weekday visit. It also lists Rajasthali, the state government's craft showroom on MI Road.
What these bazaars suit, in our guidance: carved side tables, chests, jharokha-style mirrors, small stools and one-off accent pieces, rather than a full set of bedroom furniture. The lanes are narrow, so ask how a large piece will be packed and brought out to a vehicle, and who pays for that.
Google India's autocomplete shows that people in Jaipur search for furniture by area: "furniture market in jaipur kalwar road", "furniture market patrakar colony jaipur", "furniture market lalarpura jaipur", and the same for Mansarovar, Pratap Nagar, Raja Park and Vaishali Nagar. These are road-side stretches in the newer parts of the city, not planned markets.
We could not find a newspaper report or official page that describes the shops in any of these stretches, so we do not name or describe them. Directory listings and map ratings are not sources we use. What we can tell you is how to use them well:
Our guidance for these stretches: visit two or three shops on the same road in one trip, carry your room sizes, and ask each shop whether a piece is from stock or made to order, and in which wood or board.
If you want fixed prices, a written warranty and a mattress in the same trip, brand stores are the other option. Listed alphabetically, with areas as each brand's own store page gives them on 31 October 2026:
High-end showrooms and bespoke makers are covered in a separate post in this series, on luxury furniture in Jaipur.
Shops in Jaipur's furniture markets rarely publish a price list. The nearest thing is what Jaipur sellers list on IndiaMART. We read the Jaipur pages for wooden beds, dining sets, wooden sofa sets and wardrobes on 31 October 2026, and kept only listings that matched the item.
| Item | Listings | Listed price range | Middle listing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Double, queen or king bed | 12 | ₹9,000 to ₹65,530 | ₹25,750 |
| 6-seater dining table or set | 9 | ₹15,299 to ₹59,000 | ₹30,000 |
| 5-seater wooden sofa set | 9 | ₹14,500 to ₹28,000 | ₹20,200 |
| Made-to-order wardrobe | 8 | ₹900 to ₹1,850 per sq ft | ₹1,300 per sq ft |
Read these as a starting point. The ₹9,000 bed is engineered wood and the ₹65,530 bed is a 6 ft by 6 ft sheesham bed, so wood and size explain most of the spread. Sheesham double and king beds alone were listed at ₹23,500 to ₹65,530. For wardrobes, common practice (our guidance) is to charge the per sq ft rate on the front area of the shutters; see wardrobe price per sq ft for what changes it.
By budget, in our guidance: on a tight budget, ready-made stock on the colony roads gives the most choice, and second-hand furniture is worth a look for study tables and almirahs. In the middle, brand stores trade a higher price for a warranty and service. For a whole home, a designer's drawings let a local maker quote like for like. If you are planning a full home budget, MOA's Jaipur cost calculator gives the bigger picture.
| Ready-made | Made to order | |
|---|---|---|
| What you see | The actual piece | A sample, a photo or a drawing |
| Fit | Standard sizes | Built to your wall, niche or ceiling |
| Time | Days | Usually weeks; agree a date in writing |
| Risk | Low: check it before you pay | Higher: pay in stages and inspect before polishing |
| Suits | Sofas, dining sets, beds, chairs | Wardrobes, TV units, beds with storage, odd spaces |
One rule now applies to factory-made furniture. Under the Furniture (Quality Control) Order, 2025, work chairs, general-purpose chairs and stools, tables and desks, storage units, beds and bunk beds must meet IS 17631 to IS 17636 and carry the BIS Standard Mark. The order came into force twelve months after it was published in February 2025. Micro and small enterprises were given eighteen months from publication instead. The order exempts the smallest Udyam-registered makers, with plant and machinery up to ₹25 lakh and turnover up to ₹2 crore. BIS still lists the order, with amendments in 2026 that deal mainly with imports. In practice: a factory-made bed or table from a large brand should carry the mark, while a local workshop may be exempt. Ask the seller which applies.
The Bureau of Indian Standards' IS 13622: 1993 classifies Indian timbers for furniture and cabinets into four groups. Sheesham (Dalbergia sissoo), Indian rosewood and teak are in its Super Group; mango is in Group II. It also sets limits on defects, which make a useful checklist in a shop.
Many beds, wardrobes and TV units are plywood, MDF or particle board with a laminate or veneer. Ask which board, its grade and thickness, and what is on the inside faces; our post on laminate for wardrobes explains the choices. For the finish, our guidance is to check the underside and back, open every drawer fully, and look for even polish in corners and on edges. Plywood, laminates and hardware are covered in more depth in this series' guide to New Aatish Market.
Searches for an "antique furniture market in Jaipur" are common. Under the Antiquities and Art Treasures Act, 1972, a work of art or craftsmanship that has existed for at least 100 years is an antiquity, and only the Central Government or an agency it authorises may export one. So if a piece is sold as antique, ask the seller to write its age and description on the bill. If you plan to ship it abroad, a reproduction or a piece under 100 years old is the practical choice. Our guidance: in a shop, "antique" often describes a style or finish rather than a proven age.
A designer helps most with made-to-order furniture: they draw the piece with sizes and materials, get like-for-like quotes, and inspect it before it is polished. For current furniture styles, see sofa and furniture trends 2027, and for studios in the city, our list of architects and interior designers in Jaipur. Other posts in this Jaipur series cover luxury furniture, bath fittings, marble, tiles, New Aatish Market, modular kitchens, and lighting and decor.
There are several. The Nagar Nigam lists Johari Bazaar and Chandpole Bazaar in the walled city for furniture, and Kishanpole Bazaar for wood carving. Newer stretches that people search by name include Kalwar Road, Patrakar Colony, Mansarovar, Lalarpura, Pratap Nagar, Raja Park and Vaishali Nagar.
Shops rarely publish price lists, and we do not rank markets by price. Jaipur sellers' listed prices in October 2026 were ₹9,000 to ₹65,530 for a double or king bed and ₹14,500 to ₹28,000 for a 5-seater wooden sofa set. Wood, size and finish explain most of the difference.
Rajasthan Tourism says Jaipur's markets are generally closed on Sundays. Brand stores list their own hours on their store pages; call ahead before a long trip.
IS 13622 puts sheesham in its Super Group and mango in Group II, based on strength, weight, shape retention and finish. Both are used for furniture; what matters is that the wood is seasoned and free of the defects the standard lists.
Not if it is a true antiquity. Under the Antiquities and Art Treasures Act, 1972, objects at least 100 years old can only be exported by the Central Government or its authorised agencies. Reproductions are a different matter; get the description in writing.
